In 2025, Karsten Wenzlaff, CEO of Digital Invest Germany, moderated a session on “AI Governance & Safe AI in Europe” during SupTech Week 2025, organised by the Cambridge SupTech Lab in collaboration with the World Economic Forum.

The roundtable brought together regulators, academics, and industry representatives to discuss how emerging AI regulation—such as the EU AI Act—can be translated into practical governance frameworks. Key themes included the need for proportionality, effective risk classification, and the importance of aligning AI governance with existing regulatory requirements in financial services.

Participants also highlighted the role of supervisory tools such as sandboxes and the importance of strong data governance as a foundation for safe AI deployment. The discussion reflected a growing focus on balancing innovation with accountability in the use of artificial intelligence in finance.
