EU Roundtable of Financial Centres in Tallinn of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers on April 15th & 16th 2026

Karsten Wenzlaff , CEO of Digital Invest Germany, participated as a speaker in the EU Roundtable of Financial Centres, which convened for its spring meeting in Tallinn on April 15th & 16th 2026. The event, organised as part of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers, brought together representatives from leading European financial hubs to discuss the future of finance in the European Union.
Over two days, participants exchanged views on key strategic priorities, including the development of the EU Savings and Investment Union, the role of financial education, and the need to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global landscape. Additional discussions addressed emerging topics such as Open Finance and the Financial Data Access (FIDA) initiative, as well as innovations in digital assets, including stablecoins and central bank digital currencies.
The agenda also covered important regulatory and operational challenges, including anti-financial crime frameworks and cybersecurity resilience. These discussions reflected a shared commitment among participants to support innovation while maintaining stability and trust in financial markets.
The meeting was chaired by FinanceEstonia and hosted in Tallinn with the support of local partners. It also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among European financial centres and reinforce dialogue across the ecosystem.
Overall, the roundtable highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between policymakers, industry representatives, and financial centres in shaping a more integrated and competitive European financial system.
